Camp History

Each summer for more than 10 years, W. P. Carey freshmen have gotten to know each other at Camp Carey. For thousands of students, it’s the first big experience of college, and a great way to make friends and lifelong memories. “I knew Camp Carey would be a great experience to meet new people and get my foot in the door at W. P. Carey,” remembers Jessica Wochner, a marketing and computer information systems student. “And even though it’s only a few days, I made friendships that will last long after camp ends.”

This unique launching pad makes such a big impression that students can’t wait to return to Camp Carey as facilitators or directors. In fact, some alumni still show up! In 2014, we held our 10-year Camp Carey reunion, indicating just how special Camp Carey is in your journey at the W. P. Carey School and ASU.

The biggest reason Camp Carey has been such a tremendous success is the students. They come from across the United States and all over the world, meeting for the first time the people who will help shape so much of their college years.

“As an international student, it was my first time to work with students from other cultures,” says supply chain management major Xiaonan Xiahou. “I made some friends during the trip and got some experience in intercultural communication.”
